The second major division of the Old Testament is known as 'the historical books'. This is the collection of twelve books found between Deuteronomy and Job in the English Bible. This course devotes one unit to each of the historical books, exploring the background and message of each book.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of how to interpret narrative texts soundly.
- Express informed convictions regarding introductory issues (e.g., author, date, purpose, unity).
- Demonstrate familiarity with the content of each of the historical books.
- Explain the theological purpose and perspective of individual historical books.
